Emergency Measures

The Town of Swan River's Emergency Measures Plan was implemented in 2017 and responds in a coordinated way to protect its citizens and property from unforeseen events. The emergency measures team will access and activate various resources as needed to protect the community including the Manitoba Emergency Measures Organization (MEMO) for provincial support, equipment and finances if needed.
From time to time, if the situation is warranted, a "State of Local Emergency" or S.O.L.E. may be put in place in order to access provincial support and give legal support to the Town for implementing the necessary directives to ensure the safety of its citizens and/or property.

                                            Shelter in Place
This is a precaution aimed to keep you safe while remaining indoors. (This is not the same thing as going to a shelter in case of a storm.) Shelter-in-place means selecting a small, interior room, with no or few windows, and taking refuge there. It does not mean sealing off your entire home or office building.  For more information on How to Shelter in Place
