Public Safety Update – MANDATORY EVACUATION
UPDATE: If you are on a mandated street and your property is not currently affected by flood water AND you have a safe, clear route to leave the area, please use your own judgment when deciding when to evacuate. However, all residents with water on, surrounding or approaching their property in the mandatory evacuation area must be out of their homes by 3:00 p.m. today. Do not wait until access routes become flooded or impassable.
PUBLIC SAFETY UPDATE – MANDATORY EVACUATION
Effective immediately, the Town of Swan River is issuing a Mandatory Evacuation Order for the affected areas of the following streets: • Duncan Crescent • Heyes Street, Crescent Drive and Centennial Drive • Sixth Avenue North, Seventh Avenue North and River Park Drive
All residents within these areas must evacuate their homes no later than 3:00 p.m. today (July 1, 2026).
This order has been issued due to rapidly increasing water levels and the limited ability for emergency services to safely respond within the affected areas. Delaying evacuation may place both residents and emergency responders at risk.
Residents should prepare to be away from their homes for up to 72 hours.
Please take essential items with you, including: • Medications • Pets and pet supplies • Valuables • Important documents
An Evacuation Centre has been established at the Veterans Community Hall (119 6th Avenue North).
Residents who are evacuating are asked to report to the Evacuation Centre so we can assess your immediate needs. Food, Beverages and temporary supports are available. Arrangements for longer-term accommodations are currently being evaluated.
If you have already secured accommodations with family, friends, or elsewhere and do not require assistance, we still ask that you notify us. You may stop by the Evacuation Centre or call or text 204-281-0374 or 204-281-3343.
When contacting us, please provide: • Your name • Your home address • The number of people who have evacuated from that address This information is essential to help emergency officials account for evacuated residents and ensure support resources are directed to those who need them most.
The Town of Swan River will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available. Residents are urged to monitor the Town's official communication channels for the latest information.
Your safety is our highest priority. Please leave the affected area immediately and ensure you have evacuated no later than 3:00 p.m. today.
REDUCE WATER USAGE
Due to heavy demand on the Town's sewer system, residents are asked to immediately reduce water use until the system can recover. Please limit flushing toilets, using dishwashers, and washing machines, showering, and any other non-essential water disposal whenever possible.
